2023 Ohio and Indiana Furniture Shows – New Creative and Transitional Designs Unveiled!

Home Uncategorized 2023 Ohio and Indiana Furniture Shows – New Creative and Transitional Designs Unveiled!

Have you ever wondered where we get all of our furniture here at Hubbingtons? With all of it being American made and most of it by the Amish, you may be curious how we find all this stuff. Most of our Amish builders are part of either the Northern Indiana Woodcrafters Association or the Ohio Hardwood Furniture Guild. Both of these organizations make it easier for builders to promote their businesses. The NIWA includes over 100 Amish Craftsmen that sell wholesale furniture to dealers across the USA, including Hubbingtons! By being a part of this association, all of these builders are committed to teamwork, personable service and top quality construction. Similarly, the Ohio Hardwood Furniture Guild is the nation’s largest concentration of hardwood furniture manufacturers, founded with the mission to promote their local hardwood industry!

The best way to connect the builders to retailers like us are the annual trade shows held in the heart of Amish country. The small, unassuming towns of Shipshewana, Indiana and Millersburg, Ohio are lined with country roads and farmland. It’s quiet most of the year, but come March, furniture retailers from around the country flock to the exhibit centers to meet with the builders and see what they have to showcase. This Spring, Peter (owner of Hubbingtons) traveled down to both shows and our sales rep Joe got to check out the Indiana show for the first time! It’s always cool to see new pieces and collections our builders are unveiling and meet and talk to builders that we usually just converse with over the phone. Appreciation dinners, raffles, and even a presentation from inspirational speaker Andy Andrews also contributed to the fun!

Now that the pandemic is over, the 2023 expos were truly back in full force. As business started to slow down and the Amish had more time on their hands, they were able to get back to creating and introducing new products.. and there were a lot! We really noticed the builders experimenting with new styles and woods. A lot of the pieces we picked up were in the transitional style that’s become so popular. Take a look at some of our favorite things we brought back to Hubbingtons!

First up,  this modular sofa from AJ’s new Serene series. Alvin Beechy’s son, Owen had the idea for this one, definitely something a little different from what they normally do! You can take it apart yourself and assemble it in whichever way you like. Lots of options to choose from to fit your space!

Next we have this Veraluxe Dresser where they took a traditional wood but gave it a low sheen and contemporary hardware to give it a more modern look!

Mark Stoltzfus from Crystal Valley showcased this Coffee Table + TV Stand in rustic white oak that we also brought back!

As you can see, all of these pieces are Amish but don’t necessarily look Amish! As we go through the warehouse and put more out on the showroom floor, be sure to come in and check out all the new things, especially if you are into the more contemporary transitional look. We had a lot of fun at both shows this year and can’t wait to see what our builders come up with next!
